Bartlett High School’s final ACT scores for the Graduating Class of 2008 have arrived. The Class of 2008 is above state average in every subject area except English, where they went down .1 (20.3 to 20.2). Math experienced the most significant area increase with a .3 increase (21.0 to 21.3). BHS composite ACT score was 20.9, which is .2 higher than the state average. According to the ACT, the composite score for the U-46 graduates was 19.3 in 2008. Dr. Skinkis commented on the scores, “I am happy to see our students making regular progress. However, we are still not where we need to be on a state or national level to be considered a premier high school.” Dr. Skinkis hopes to see even greater progress next year (class of 2009 ACT scores) based on the interventions he implemented in his first year as principal at BHS. According to Dr. Skinkis, “Teachers and students have been working hard to increase ACT scores through classroom ACT jumpstarts and various test preparation activities. In addition, students can also be working independently to improve their ACT test scores.” Bartlett High School has a test preparation program available via the Bartlett High School webpage. Dr. Skinkis suggested, “All parents and students should visit the BHS website for the link to studentedge.com where students can complete additional test preparation lessons and sample ACT tests.” |
