| Scope and Sequences: |
Studying a foreign language is not only an essential life skill in an era of diversity and globalization, it also increases a student’s cognitive abilities and prepares them for a competitive marketplace and a life of international travel and cultural appreciation.
Additionally, two years of a foreign language is required for admittance to many colleges and universities including The University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign and almost all other Big Ten Schools. If students only complete two years of a foreign language at BHS, further coursework in a foreign language may be required at the undergraduate level once admitted to a college or university.
However, if students complete a full four year program of study in the same language at BHS, they will have prepared themselves for meeting the admission requirements for any undergraduate program. Most students will also be exempt from further coursework requirements in undergraduate programs at the university level.
