  Attention Sophomores and Juniors: PSAT
The PSAT is available to sophomores and juniors. The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT. The SAT scores are primarily used by east and west coast schools as well as highly selective area colleges. It is also the National Merit Scholarship qualifying test. After taking the test, you will have access to an excellent website which links you to colleges and careers. In addition, you will get specific information on how to improve your academic skills.

The testing date is Saturday, October 18th at Bartlett High School. Students may sign up in the Guidance Office with the secretary from September 22nd thru October 3rd. The cost is $22.00 and is to be paid at the time of sign-up.

Students who are involved in an athletic event (not practice) on Saturday, October 18th, may test at Streamwood High School on Wednesday, October 15th. Prior approval must be given by Guidance Counselor Dave Marszalek. The fee for the test if being taken at Streamwood High School is $16.00. The reason for the lesser fee is because it is administered during a regular school day as opposed to Bartlett High administering their test on a Saturday.

National Merit Scholarship and National Achievement Scholarship Program:
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/ NMSQT) is the route of entry to NMSC programs. The 2008 PSAT/NMSQT, to be given in October, is the entry vehicle to the competitions for awards to be offered in 2010. Annually, some 55,000 students receive recognition through NMSC’s programs, and about 10,500 are chosen to receive scholarships for college undergraduate study.
