School District Safety and Security

The safety of students and staff at School District U-46 is a top priority. In today’s society the heightened focus on security and safety protocols is imperative. Effectively coordinating safety efforts with U-46 employees and our local police and fire departments is the main focus. Safe school planning is a partnership that includes a working relationship with local emergency responders, community members, government leaders, social service networks, parents and students.

This is the work of School District Safety and Security. This department is responsible for working with the schools and operational service departments to implement district-wide safety standards and comprehensive crisis response plans while maintaining a high level of building security.

School safety does not exclude the greater community. A major component of School District Safety and Security is to liaison with our local police and fire departments. Emergency responders are important partners in ensuring a safe environment in all district buildings. This important relationship between the district and community safety officials is the cornerstone of the Comprehensive School Safety and Crisis Response Plan.
