School District U-46 offers a number of programs to support the growth of both English language skills and academic skills for students learning English. Visit U-46 English Language Learners web site to learn more about the program and what it offers students in the district.  

U-46 also provides a Welcome Center that provides a variety of services. They work with non-English speaking families new to the district. Parents are introduced to the programs available to their children and school procedures. Their children are assessed while at the Welcome Center to provide appropriate classroom placement. The center also screens all U-46 incoming kindergartners. Students are screened at their school to determine the best placement to ensure students get off to a good start.
