Screening Information

It is important to support young children as they develop and learn.  The best way to do that is to catch possible problems early so they can be addressed and children can get the services they need to reach their full potential.

U-46 offers a screening service free to all 3-5 year old children in the district. The screening is a brief test of a child's development that can determine if a child is progressing as expected for his/her age.  Screening can identify possible difficulties a child may be having in attaining new skills. All screenings are offered in English and Spanish.

Services offered in U-46

  • PAT screening for children ages birth - 3
  • Preschool screening for children ages 3-5
  • Kindergarten screening is available to determine eligibility for the full day kindergarten program.
  • English screening for kindergarten English Language Learners
