About the Foundation

The mission of the U-46 Found ation is to acquire and dedicate resources to enhance the quality of education for U-46 students.

Work on the Foundation began in 2006, when a core of community leaders and longtime district supporters came together to recruit board members, establish bylaws and seek non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) organization. In July of 2008 the Foundation became a reality and was introduced to the community.

The U-46 Foundation was created to cultivate educational programs and activities not typically financed with tax dollars. The primary means of fundraising is through individual and corporate donations. Private resources play an important role in supporting activities that go beyond the district curriculum.

The Foundation will not replace or duplicate any of the U-46 parent groups or business partnerships. In some cases, projects may be collaborative. While the other groups support specific schools, the Foundation’s focus is district-wide and impacts a significant number of students or schools by providing activities that enhance, enrich and complement education.
