H1N1

What are the district’s initiatives to prevent the spread of the H1N1 flu virus or any other cold, flu viruses?

  • Each school has been provided carts with hand sanitizer for staff and student use. The carts are located stratigically for easy use and supervision.
  • Attendance is tracked daily at each school for flu symptoms and monitored by the District Safety and Security Department which are reported to the county health departments.

Please do not send your student to school if their symptoms include a fever at 100 degrees or higher with a sore throat and/or cough. Any student or staff member who has these symptoms will be excluded from school until they are fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Precautions to avoid getting or spreading infection include:

  • Staying home when sick.
  • Washing your hands frequently with soap and water or the use of hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or cough and sneeze into your elbow or sleeve if you do not have a tissue.
