VARICELLA VACCINE (chicken pox) is a requirement for all incoming kindergarten students in Illinois (or for first entry into an Illinois school).

In addition, School Nurses will be checking all mandated 5 th grade physicals to ensure every student has at least one dose of the varicella vaccine. A second dose of the vaccine is recommended, but not required at this time (ask your health care provider for further details).

If your child has experienced Chicken Pox, proof of the disease (such as a statement from your medical doctor, or a notation on the physical) is required.

Please visit the following web site which can provide you with detailed information about immunizations and the State of Illinois requirements. Also, please remember to complete the parent portion (student health history) on all physicals as this is a requirement as well.

U-46 School District enforces a first day exclusion rule for all schools. If you child does not meet the State of Illinois Immunization and/or physical requirements, they will not be allowed to attend school until the requirements are met and the information is verified by your school's Certified School Nurse.

The Certified School Nurses of U-46 wish all of you a restful and healthy summer. It has been our privilege to assist in the overall health of your children.
