Technology
in U-46
While
technology in U-46 covers many areas and departments the focus is always
in line with the District
Improvement Plan and the learning mission of the district. It
is our belief that while technology in many areas will make the district
more efficient, our main goal is to support the academic success of all
of students. That includes the use of technology for assessment,
data collection, data analysis, remediation, enrichment and direct instruction.
Through
an alignment with the District Improvement Plan pillars:
- Curriculum
and Instruction Pillar – The primary focus of instructional
technology should be on supporting and improving instruction through
the following:
-
Use of Best Practices with Instructional Technology
-
Staff Development focused on the use of Best Practices
-
Greater support in the classroom for Instructional Technology
-
Enhanced user feedback on technology priorities and their effectiveness
- High Priority
Schools Pillar – While establishing a baseline standard for
technology in all schools, additional focus should be placed on increased
instructional technology support and staff development in the schools
with greatest need.
- Fiscal
Responsibility Pillar – The district plan should seek to insure
that infrastructure capacity and stability for upgraded Financial and
Human Resources tools be maintained. The plan should support the full
implementation of technology based tools in both of these areas.
- Leadership
Pillar – The district plan should support the use of technology
tools for leadership assessment and staff development.
- Data Management
Pillar – The district plan should support the use of data
at the school and classroom level by all district personnel through:
- Insuring the
availability of student data for student improvement.
- Increasing
assessment resources in order to accelerate implementation of assessment
plan.
- Completing
the data warehouse project by 6/30/05.
- Establishing
school level support to enhance the use of student data in the classroom.
- Insuring infrastructure
capacity and reliability to support the use of data at the classroom
level.
- Public
Trust and Support Pillar – The district plan should emphasize
the use of technology based communication tools at the district and
school and community level, as evidenced by the new district web site,
school web sites and future staff intranet site.
