I. Introduction of new members: Richard Schroeder, Principal, Spring Trail ES; Perry Hayes, Principal, Ellis MS; Dave Smiley, Principal, Elgin HS; Jeff Lake, Director IS; Sandy Stringham, teacher Liberty ES; Kathryn Smith, teacher Canon MS; Joan Hull, librarian, SEHS; Heather Hunt, teacher, Hilltop ES; Jana Hite, Special Education

II.  Review of ITC Committee purpose and goals: The Instructional Technology Committee is an advisory committee. ITC believes:

•  Technology must be easily and readily accessible to all.

•  There must be effective use and integration of technology in instruction.

•  Professional development must meet staff needs.

•  Appropriate technology use must enhance student learning at all levels.

•  Effective use of technologies requires on-going monitoring and assessing of all aspects of the “program/plan”.

•  Technology must ease organizational duties and enhance communication in order to support teaching and learning

 

III.  Update U-46 filtering system and web policies. Jeff Lake discussed the following areas:

  • The most viewed topic on the web
  • The most common topic of pages on the web
  • All web browsers are equal
  • Advertising on the Internet
  • All images on the Internet are in the public domain
IV.  Janine Shelley introduced the state tech plan development schedule. The committee will begin reviewing items to be included in the U-46 technology plan at the next meeting
