U-46 Students Excel In Robotics Competition
The team, who goes by the name the BazingaBots, includes Jack Brotnow, Peter Devereux, Ryan Dufek, George Jeno, Roman Sentowski, and Mark Zubricki. FLL is a division of the FIRST organization (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and encourages kids in the areas of research, problem solving, teamwork, and engineering.
The FLL competition itself involves four main areas - designing and programming a robot to complete a series of tasks, a technical interview, teamwork observation and interview, and a research project.
In the regional tournament, the BazingaBots received first place for their research project which involved the development of a custom golf tee for senior citizen golfers. The team also finished in the top three for their robot performance as well as for technical design.
The team will go on to compete in the Illinois state tournament in late January, 2013.
