Goals of a Strategic Reader:

•  Flexible and able to adjust to different types of reading material - reading a magazine or a textbook calls for different levels of reading skills

•  Confident and efficient in monitoring their comprehension – checking to be sure they are understanding as they read a selection

•  Critically reflect as they read – interpreting, responding and analyzing the material they read

•  Self-motivated to read for pleasure and for their own purposes – seeking reading materials to gain knowledge or for the fun of reading on their own.
