Text Talk Workshop
It is important that students develop a rich vocabulary that they can use in their  reading and also in their conversation and writing. Many of the books students are introduced to provide a wealth of words that can be used. To make these words a true part of students’ vocabulary, they must be exposed to the word numerous times. Words need to be explained, discussed and used on an ongoing basis.
Sometimes it is easier to observe someone using the strategy. The following videos provide insight as an Instructional Coach presents an overview of text talk and walks teachers through a text talk lesson. View Video 1
The lesson continues following the same process for two more words, pleasant and fierce. After the words are all taught the ideas are presented to tie all the words together and ways to expand the lessons and deepen students’ understanding. View Video 2
