Academic vocabulary across the curriculum…

Academic vocabulary is often associated with language arts or science but in truth it is a part of every content area. In fact some of the same essential vocabulary words are used in several content areas.  This repeated exposure helps students learn words in different contexts, deepening their understanding.

This happens in classes like physical education. P.E. teachers reviewed existing grade level vocabulary lists and words were identified that also appear as part of the physical education curriculum.  This particular activity uses the words analyze, observe and sequence from the 7^th Grade P. E. Academic Vocabulary List.
