The new high school boundaries will become effective with the opening of the new High School in August of 2005. The new High School will serve Freshmen and Sophomores in 2005-2006, Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors in 2006-2007 and will serve all grades, Freshmen through Seniors in 2007-2008.
Current eighth grade students will start their high school program in 2005-2006 based upon the new boundaries. Students who are presently Freshmen will be expected to move as Sophomores in 2005-2006 to the high school determined by the new boundaries. However, younger siblings of Juniors and Seniors will be allowed to attend the same high school rather than attend the high school designated by the new boundaries. This exception will be granted as long as an older sibling is enrolled in the high school. When continuity of high school enrollment is broken, based upon the graduation of the older sibling, this arrangement will no longer be honored. Additional detail to this provision is attached to this letter. Eligible parents wishing to register their eighth grade or Freshman students based upon the High School Boundary Sibling Guidelines should complete the attached form and return it to the middle school or high school where the student is currently enrolled by December 10, 2004.
The new high school boundaries described below will be used by district personnel to register high school students for the 2005-2006 school year. Again, the new High School will only serve Freshmen and Sophomores in 2005-2006, all Juniors and Seniors in 2005-2006 will attend their present high school. In addition; to the boundary descriptions, a district map is also enclosed which highlights the new high school boundaries.
