The sun is out, the heat is on, and the trees are beautiful!  It is definitely fall weather!  I can not believe we have been in school for 8 weeks already!!  Just a reminder that the end of the quarter is next week Thursday, Oct. 22nd.  As all classes are on semesters for grading, the grades posted for 1st quarter are strictly progress reports.  There is still plenty of time for your child to improve their grades.

We will be having another Material Pick Up Day on Friday, Oct. 23rd from 7 am - 3:30 pm.  I have listed below all the items that will be available for pick up.  With the exception of a few items, all paper packets are being shared digitally with families so you can print at home if that is more convenient for you.  If you would rather have us doing the printing, please arrange to pick up the items your child needs on the 23rd.

    • Material Pick Up on Friday, Oct. 23rd from 7 am - 3:30 pm

    • Pick up will be on the south side of the building closest to the high school.  Please enter through the bus lane.

BUILDING AN ACADEMIC PLAN ~ ECC College and Career Readiness Events: ECC will be hosting a virtual event on Tuesday, October 20th at 6:00 p.m. on "Building an Academic Roadmap." Topics will include secondary course selections, preparations for standardized tests, and decisions on early college credit options. This event is intended for students in grades 8 to 12 as well as parents/guardians. To register for this event and to explore other upcoming events, please visit https://elgin.edu/CCRevents

CAMERAS ON PLEASE!  Starting Tuesday, Oct. 13th we are asking all students to turn their videos on and show their faces for the first 5 minutes and the last 5 minutes of each class.  This is the only way we can verify attendance each period.  We are also encouraging all our students to keep their videos on during the whole class.  Not only does this help the teacher gauge your child’s level of understanding, students who keep their videos on are more engaged and seem to be doing better in class.  Please discuss this with your child so that we can see their beautiful smiles everyday.

PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CHROMEBOOK EVERY NIGHT!  Parents, I would like to remind you to have your students shut down their chromebooks every night.  This small step will help your student stay current with all the updates that are pushed out by the various software programs we use daily.  This will ultimately help your students' Chromebook to run more efficiently each day.
