New boundaries for Hawk Hollow Elementary attendance area starting in 2023-2024 school year

May 5, 2022
Dear Hawk Hollow Elementary School Families,
This is a follow-up to the message you received on January 31 explaining the District’s plans for converting Hawk Hollow Elementary from an elementary school to a middle school as part of our larger facilities planning work. This conversion is needed to provide the capacity that will support our districtwide shift to include grades 6, 7, and 8 in our middle schools, as well as provide a much-needed middle school building in the southeast portion of the District. The timeline provided in the plan to the Board of Education confirms that next school year, 2022-23, will be the final year for Hawk Hollow Elementary to operate as an elementary school. Construction will begin in June 2023 for the addition required to reopen Hawk Hollow Elementary as a middle school for the 2024-25 school year.
Hawk Hollow Elementary will be taken offline as an elementary school beginning in the 2023-24 school year as construction will occur to convert it to a middle school. This means all elementary students in the current Hawk Hollow attendance area will begin attending a different elementary school beginning with the 2023-24 school year. On Monday, May 2 the Board of Education formally approved the new boundaries that essentially divide the current Hawk Hollow Elementary attendance area at Army Trail Road (see Figure A below). Students residing north of Army Trail Road will attend Prairieview Elementary School starting in the 2023-2024 school year and students residing south of Army Trail Road will attend Spring Trail Elementary starting in the 2023-2024 school year.
At this point, no action is required on your part and your student(s) will remain at Hawk Hollow for the 2022-2023 school year. Next school year, the Principal of Prairieview Elementary (Mr. Paul Flatley) and the Interim Principal of Spring Trail Elementary (TBD for next school year with Ms. Noelle Dupuis transitioning to Spring Trail for 2023-2024) will contact you with opportunities to visit your new school and become acquainted with the staff.
If you have a new, incoming student to Hawk Hollow next school year, we will be sending a separate letter outlining an option to move your student(s) next school year and with instructions and a deadline to indicate whether you would prefer to keep your student(s) at Hawk Hollow Elementary next school year or move to either Prairieview Elementary or Spring Trail Elementary depending on your household location.
We will also certainly keep you posted with more information on the overall transition process. If you have any immediate questions, please use our Let’s Talk online customer service tool.
Thank you,
Brian Lindholm
Chief of Staff
School District U-46

Gracias,
Brian Lindholm
Jefe de Gabinete
Distrito Escolar U-46

Important update about the leadership of Spring Trail and Hawk Hollow Elementary Schools

April 18, 2022
Dear Spring Trail and Hawk Hollow Elementary Families and Staff Members,
We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Noelle Dupuis has accepted the Spring Trail Elementary School Principalship effective for the 2023-2024 school year. Mrs. Dupuis will continue in her role as Hawk Hollow Elementary School Principal for the 2022-2023 school year.
By maintaining this role at Hawk Hollow during the 2022-2023 school year, Mrs. Dupuis will be able to provide stability and continuity as Hawk Hollow Elementary School closes at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year to be repurposed as a middle school. An Interim Principal will be identified for Spring Trail Elementary School for the 2022-2023 school year.
Prior to and during the 2022-2023 year, the following items will be addressed to maintain site climate and culture while implementing U-46 Rising to achieve optimal student growth and outcomes:
- Mrs. Dupuis will hire an Assistant Principal for Spring Trail Elementary School and an Assistant Principal for Hawk Hollow Elementary School. The Assistant Principal at Hawk Hollow Elementary School will be a one-year only position.
- Mrs. Dupuis will identify specific days, events, and work items to support Spring Trail Elementary School and begin to build relationships with students, staff, households and community members. This will be critical as Spring Trail Elementary School will welcome several Hawk Hollow Elementary School students as boundaries are adjusted following the closure of Hawk Hollow Elementary School at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year, and Principal Dupuis will transition to the Spring Trails Elementary School Principalship beginning the 2023-2024 school year.
I look forward to collaborating with Lela Majstorovic, the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, and Dr. Kyle Bunker, the Executive Director of Elementary Schools of the Bartlett Area Network, to support Hawk Hollow Elementary School, Spring Trail Elementary School and Ms. Dupuis during this transition.
Sincerely,
Dr. Suzanne Johnson
Deputy Superintendent of Instruction
Atentamente,
Dra. Suzanne Johnson
Vice-Superintendente de Instrucción

The U-46 Zero-Tax-Rate-Change Bond Proposal will improve our schools without changing the tax rate residents currently pay. On April 4, 2023, the referendum question asked voters for their approval to issue $179 million in school building bonds to make safety and security improvements, renovate and replace building infrastructure, add classrooms for early childhood education, improve accessibility, and construct STEM labs and classrooms. Unofficial results from the election showed approximately 62% voting in favor of the proposal. Learn more at u-46.org/bondproposal.

HAWK HOLLOW WANTS YOU TO STAND UP TO BULLYING!
Hawk Hollow School is dedicated and committed to providing students with a safe, caring, and supportive school environment. Reporting bullying behavior is the first step toward making our school a safe place.
The first step in reporting bullying is to notify your child's teacher if it is caused by another student in the class.
The second step in reporting bullying is to notify the school Principal. These two steps can usually bring about an end to the bullying.
A third way is to complete an online bully report provided by our district (see below for the link).
Anyone can fill out this report; whether you are a victim or a bystander. Just remember to please describe the bullying incident in detail including who, what, and where the bullying has occurred. The district will follow up with our school so necessary action can be taken.
This form can be filled out anonymously, or you can provide your name in order to receive feedback.
Thank you for taking responsibility for keeping our school safe.
Hawk Hollow is here to support YOU and anyone who is being bullied.
