    Picture Retake Day- CANCELLED! | Roberta G. Doering

    Were you absent on picture day?  Not happy with your picture?  Picture Retake Day at Hawk Hollow will be held on October 15, 2021.   Picture retakes orders will be on a pre-pay basis.  The pre-pay code is 10067702 to be entered at ordercp.com. If parents prepaid for the original day, but their child was absent, their order is still pending.  Please call the office with any questions.  630-540-7676.

    WELCOME BACK!!!! IT'S GOING TO BE A FANTASTIC SCHOOL YEAR!!!

    ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

    SCHOOL BEGINS AT 8:30 A.M. SCHOOL ENDS AT 2:30 P.M.

    Be on time. Doors will open at 8:20 Have a pick-up plan & be on time.

     

    Doors to the building open at 8:20 a.m. All students should be in their classrooms by 8:30 a.m. We ask that you meet this time deadline as we are working hard to secure the building and limit the opening and closing of doors. PLEASE – NO LATE STUDENTS.

    CAR RIDER PROCEDURES: Supervision begins at 8:20.

    Vehicle Procedures for the Morning:

     

    • Enter the furthest parking lot and stay to the right
    • Always pull all the way up to the last cone or furthest point in the line
    • Be sure to stay in line and in your vehicle
    • Students are required to exit the car CURB SIDE only. Staff members will be on duty to assist if children have difficulty with the door.
    • All students will head directly to their assigned doors to enter the building. Please see the map below.

     

    Vehicle Procedures for the Afternoon:

      • Enter the furthest parking lot and stay to the right
      • Always pull all the way up to the last cone or furthest point in the line
      • Be sure to have visible the tag with your child’s number on your rear view mirror. This tells the staff on duty who is authorized to pick up.
      • Students are required to enter the car CURB SIDE only. Staff members will be on duty to support students as needed. Please see the map below.

     

      • NOTE: If your child requires assistance with buckling a seat belt, please allow your child to enter the car and then pull into a parking spot to assist them.


    Car riders will be provided tags just like we have in the past. However, this year we have purchased new tags and will be providing each family with 1 backpack tag per child and 2 car tags per family. If your tags are lost and you require a replacement we will be charging $1 as the tags do cost the school money each year.

     

    DISMISSAL: Students will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. IT IS VITAL that you have a pick-up person ready at 2:30 as we have limited supervision of students after that time. Students will be dismissed through the same door they entered the building.

     

    Changes in Daily Dismissal Schedule - Any changes to student dismissal must be communicated to both the office and the classroom teacher prior to 2:00pm. You can either email the teacher and marywalsh@u-46.org or jessicapaz@u-46.org OR call the front office at 630-540-7676. It is imperative you notify us of any changes so we can get your children to the proper location for dismissal.

    GUIDELINES FOR IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION


    SOCIAL DISTANCING: As much as possible, we will work to make sure students and staff maintain social distance. Please practice, at home, what 3-6 feet looks like and we will reinforce that in lessons during the day.

     

    LOCKERS: Lockers will be used during the school day. Students will be assigned lockers so they are 3-6 feet from one another. They will be dismissed appropriately to ensure they remain 3-6 feet apart.


    ID'S: NEW this year....All students will receive a photo ID and lanyard this year. Students are expected to come to school each day wearing their lanyard with their ID. If a lanyard or ID is lost, please notify the office and we will replace it.

     

    BUSING WRISTBAND: All students riding the bus will be given a yellow wristband with their bus number on it. Students are expected to wear this wristband for the first three days of school. If their wristband is damaged or lost, please notify the office so we can replace it.

     

    KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES ONLY: If your child is riding the bus, make sure you have completed the card on the back of their lanyard! You will need to write down who will be meeting your child at the bus stop each day. If the person meeting your child is NOT listed on the card, the driver will not release your child and they will come back to the school. If this card gets lost, reach out to the office for a replacement.

     

    FORGOTTEN ITEMS: If your child has forgotten an item at home, he/she will not be calling home for those items to be brought into school. We will provide materials needed for instruction. We are trying to minimize exposure to staff and students which is our reasoning for eliminating phone calls home.

     

     

    TECHNOLOGY: IPADS AND CHROMEBOOKS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL DAILY! Please make sure your child chargers their device each night so it can be used in school.

     
     
     
     

    HOME/SCHOOL COMMUNICATION

    Mr. Feather’s Headquarters documents important information related to Hawk Hollow’s improvement goals, ongoing events, PBIS activities, nursing information, arrival and dismissal and much more. Please be sure to check your emails on the second and four Saturday of each month for our newsletter. If you are NOT receiving Mr. Feather’s Headquarters, please click on this link to notify the office.

     

    Teachers will be sending home newsletters electronically to share classroom information. However, we highly encourage and recommend all families sign up to become an observer on the teachers Canvas page. For directions on how to complete this, click here to view tutorials.
     

    BREAKFAST, LUNCH, AND SNACK

    Breakfast and lunch are FREE to all students this year. Doors will open at 8:15 for breakfast. All students are welcome to come to the front door, press the big RED button for the office, and let us know they are coming in for breakfast. Students will be supervised in the Cafe and if they finish their breakfast before 8:25 then they will go to their designated spots on the playground. If students are not done eating at 8:25 they will be dismissed directly to their classrooms.

     

    Lunch will be FREE for all students. Students can use lunchboxes this year!!!

    Students will have a snack time break at varied times throughout the day. Teachers have the option to host snack time in their classroom, cafe, or bring students outside (weather permitting). The snack break will be scheduled by teachers. Snacks are NOT provided so parents will need to send those items in. Please make sure you are sending in a healthy snack for your child.

    RIGHT AT SCHOOL REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

    The start of a new school year is just around the corner! Classes resume Monday, Aug. 16 for kindergarten through 12th grade students. We are excited to share that registration for before- and after-school programs with our partner, Right At School, is now open for families at your school.


    Right At School offers opportunities for children to engage in an enrichment curriculum, physical fitness activities as well as homework assistance. Families will be able to create a flexible monthly schedule for their needs. Drop-in care and a punch card are also available, which allows parents to only pay for the days during which care is needed. Right At School accepts the state’s child care subsidy.

    Registration for the 20/21 school year is now open.  Registration impacts our staffing numbers. Please register your student as soon as possible. There will be NO fees for the 21-22 school year. Additionally, the district will be purchasing school supplies for all students.

    The Board of Education have approved the 2021-2022 calendar. The first day of classes Monday, August 16, 2021.
