• At Eastview, we assess each student's individual fitness level 3 or 4 times per year. We feel that the Fitness Gram program is an accurate and effective way to do this, which is why we at Eastview (along with many other schools in the district) have adopted it. The students are assessed in three areas. These areas are listed below, along with the test used to assess them.

2014-15 UPDATE: As of this school year, there is a new section in Infinite Campus for fitness testing. Each student's Fitness Gram scores will be entered into the system by his/her P.E. teacher. This data will follow each student through high school. Parents and students can log in and see the student's progression in teacher test area. We are very excited about this useful tool!

Each student records his/her scores and data on a sheet of paper (or teacher may record them), which is collected at the end of each day. Data is not shared with other students and is strictly confidential. In all tests, the main goal is to see improvement between the first test in the beginning of the school year and the second test at the end. We feel that it is important to stress the concept of individuality to the students. Everyone is different, with different strengths and weaknesses. The focus is on improvement and the self-motivation that it takes to improve.

What is the main goal of fitness testing in our program? To provide students when an accurate representation of their current fitness level, while hopefully instilling within each student a sense of intrinsic motivation, which makes them want to strive to improve not because they will be rewarded, but because they recognize the short and long term benefits of leading a healthy and physically active lifestyle.
