Grade Determination

Infinite Campus is used to communicate students’ proficiency in each intentional practice, assessment, overall reporting strand, and predicted semester letter grade.  The semester letter grade will be informed by the student’s learning proficiencies throughout the semester. Mastery of standards leads to mastery of the reporting strands, which in turn leads to mastery of the course.

• Standards-based success criteria will be used to determine students’ level of proficiency, using the 0-4 scale, on individual standards and assessments.  
• A predicted in-progress 0-4 grade for each reporting strand will be calculated within Infinite Campus by averaging each of the proficiency scores in the strand. Intentional practice is averaged at 10%, formative assessment is averaged at 20%, and summative assessment is averaged at 70% for the final grade.
• A predicted semester letter grade for the course will be calculated within Infinite Campus by equally averaging each of the reporting strands.
• The equal incremental grading scale to determine grades is below.

If scores are present in all categories

 

Overall Grade:  3(10%) + 2.5(20%) + 3(70%) = 2.9 = 3 / B

If intentional practice is missing:

 

Overall Grade:  2.5(22.2%) + 3(77.8%) = 2.9 = 3 / B

If formative scores are missing:

 

Overall Grade:  3(12.5%) + 3(87.5%) = 3 = 3 / B

If summative scores are missing

 

Overall Grade:  3(33.3%) + 2.5(66.6%) = 2.7 = 3 / B

If scores are missing from two categories, the remaining category is 100% of the grade
