IMPORTANT U-46 SUBSTITUTE INFORMATION

  • increased pay rate for teachersSubstitute teachers have always been a valuable part of the U-46 community, and that has never been more true than during the 2022-23 school year. Their role in classrooms during the pandemic has been extremely important in maintaining in-person learning for our students.

To express our appreciation, School District U-46 has increased the daily rate we pay substitute teachers by an additional $20 a day: $130 a day for general education classes, $140 a day for Dual Language classes, and $140 a day for Special Education classes. Long-term substitutes earn up to $253 per day, the rate of an entry-level teacher.

Because U-46 is committed to Professional Development for our teachers, there are more than a dozen days during the 2022-23 school year when substitute teachers can make an additional $20 a day. During these days, substitute teachers will allow our classroom educators to receive additional training. Those remaining dates are:

    January: 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26, 31

    February: 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 23, 24, 28

    March: 1, 2

Those who have already substitute teach for U-46 regularly do not need to do anything special; they will see the increased pay rate reflected in future checks.
