Community Leaders Invited to Serve as ‘Principal for a Day’ in U-46
Friday, Dec. 6 2019
School District U-46 will host its 12th annual Principal for a Day event on Friday, Dec. 6 2019. The program brings community leaders into schools to serve as “principal” for a morning, allowing them to experience school life through a new lens across the District’s 11 communities.
The guest principals convene for a luncheon at Villa Olivia in Bartlett, sponsored by Marco, a leading technology service provider. The featured speaker, chairman of the Illinois State Board of Education Darren Reisberg, is expected to address state education initiatives.
Mr. Reisberg had previously served as the general counsel and deputy superintendent of the ISBE between 2005 and 2012. He is currently the vice president of programs and strategy at the Joyce Foundation, a nonpartisan private foundation that invests in public policies and strategies to advance racial equity and economic mobility for the people in the Great Lakes region. Before joining the Joyce Foundation, Mr. Reisberg was the vice president for strategic initiatives and deputy provost at the University of Chicago. He was the first executive director of the university’s Institute of Politics, where he currently serves on the board of advisors. Mr. Reisberg was an employment and labor attorney at the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin LLP, and also worked as a judicial law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer. Mr. Reisberg received his law degree from Yale Law School and his bachelor of arts in political science at Duke University.
