Mrs. Jessica Vaillancourt
Mrs. Jessica Vaillancourt is certified to instruct middle school, high school, and advanced placement art classes. In college, she studied drawing, design, sculpture, painting (with a special emphasis in sculpture and watercolors), the philosophy of art, and non-western art. Mentored by her own high school art, theatre, and science teachers, Mrs. Vaillancourt hopes to provide similar mentorship to students in School District U-46. At the start of her teaching career, Mrs. Vaillancourt taught acting, speech, debate, and English courses, directed fall and spring plays, and ran the yearbook program at another U-46 high school. Currently, she coaches the Speech and Drama Team. Additionally, at the middle school level, Mrs. Vaillancourt is certified to teach language arts, speech, drama, and science.
Mrs. Vaillancourt received the Illinois Outstanding Young Teacher of the Year Award several years ago, an honor voted upon by members of the Illinois Communication and Theatre Association, the state’s largest professional association for drama, speech, and debate teachers. A native of Western Michigan, Jessica moved to Illinois, attended Elmhurst College and, in addition to her studies in art, earned a degree in Theatre (emphases in scenic design, lighting design, and stage management). As practicum, Jessica spent summers in Colorado working for various summer theater programs and music festivals.
