U-46 Designates Sept. 29 as ‘Survey Day’ to Encourage Participation in Survey for Equity Audit
Sept. 28, 2021
School District U-46 has designated Wednesday, Sept. 29 as “U-46 Survey Day” to encourage widespread participation among staff, students, and parents on a survey regarding their experiences in the District. The work is part of a comprehensive equity audit to determine the extent to which U-46 is effectively serving all students.
The survey closes Oct. 5. The necessary links have been emailed to parents/guardians, staff, and students in 4th through 12th grades; they are also available here under the Equity & Diversity section of the u-46.org website. A video featuring our students sharing why the survey is important to them is available at https://youtu.be/V89Lw-Wz6AE.
The survey will take 10 to 20 minutes and responses will be kept confidential and anonymous.
It is part of the District’s equity audit which is being conducted with Curriculum Management Solutions, inc. (CMSi). The focus of the equity audit will fall under five key areas: vision and accountability, achievement, equity and access, culture and climate, and curriculum.
So far, more than 1,800 U-46 employees have completed it.
On Sept. 29, teachers are being asked to set aside about 10 minutes of class time to allow students in 4th through 12th grades to take the survey, if they have not already done so. Additionally, signs have been posted in school buildings with QR codes that direct students to the survey, in English or Spanish.
Also this week, members of the CMSi team are visiting school buildings in the District for site visits, as well as focus groups and one-on-one interviews with parents and employees.
Results from the audit are expected to be shared with the U-46 Board of Education and the public during spring 2022.
