Larkin High School to Host ‘NCAA Night’ for Student Athletes
Feb. 28. 2020
Larkin High School student-athletes and their families are invited to the school’s first-ever “NCAA Night” on Wednesday, March 4 at 6 p.m. The free event will include an informational panel, a Q&A session, and an opportunity for students to speak with college representatives.
During the panel, students will be presented with information on non-traditional college routes from officials who work in higher education, including in finance, admissions, and athletics. The panel will open for questions afterward.
The event, organized by Ethan Karolczak, Athletic Department Director at Larkin High, aims to broaden students' understanding of college and other post-secondary options.
“I want to show our student-athletes that college is still an option - even if they do not get an athletic scholarship,” said Karolczak. “It is part of my passion to make sure these students find a path to pursue after high school.”
Among the colleges and universities confirmed to attend are Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Aurora University, Chicago State University, Elgin Community College, and Concordia University Chicago. Representatives will be present to speak to students and families about their schools’ strengths and histories, a variety of opportunities for financial assistance, and to provide resources for more information.
