Bartlett High to Host Informational Session on Vaping
Jan. 30, 2019
Smoking e-cigarettes, also known as “vaping” or “JUUling,” is increasingly popular among young people. E-cigarettes produce an aerosol by heating a liquid that usually contains nicotine, flavorings, and other chemicals,. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is often a false assumption that using e-cigarettes is just inhaling harmless “water vapor,” but nicotine is an addictive drug that can negatively impact the developing adolescent brain.
Bartlett High School is hosting an informational meeting on vaping on Monday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m in the school’s auditorium, 701 Schick Road, Bartlett. Mr. Matthew Quinn of the Rosecrance Health Network will deliver a presentation entitled “Teens and Vaping: What’s Behind the Smoke.” Bartlett High School administration, along with representatives from the Bartlett Police Department, will also be present to aid with the presentation, and answer questions from the audience.
This is a free presentation, aimed primarily at parents, but students may attend as well. If you have any questions, please reach out to Assistant Principal Peter Serpe at peterserpe@u-46.org.
