Elementary Parents Invited to Informational Meetings About Gifted Programming
Sept. 25, 2019
Between Oct. 9 and Oct. 24, all District U-46 6th grade students will participate in Gifted universal screening. Schools will be administering the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) during the school day. While current 6th grade IGNITE and Dual IGNITE students will participate in the screening, their continued participation is automatic, and they advance to Middle School Gifted.
Universal CogAT screening of current 3rd graders took place in the spring of 2019. Those 3rd graders who did not participate will test in October.
Informational meetings for parents on Gifted programming will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30 at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin, and Thursday, Oct. 3 at Tefft Middle School, 1100 Shirley Ave., Streamwood. Presentations will be offered in English and Spanish.
