What is the most important thing you learned in high school?

Potential is invaluable. The characteristic of being able to be great at one or many things is wonderful. In order to realize it, one needs to try anything presented in front of them.

What is your favorite high school memory?

Taking a trip to Japan with those who were studying Japanese along with me. Enjoying time away from regular classes while immersed in a different culture.

What is your best advice to future first-generation students?

If you're future has been set in stone and you're ecstatic to pursue it, fantastic! However, if you wonder what your college diploma will read, that is alright. As long as the ember to continue to learn exists, that is more than enough. Make sure to keep it going, no matter the circumstances.

What is a challenge that you have overcome as a first-generation college student?

Admittedly, my motivation and rationale for doing such academic and extra-curricular work would be unsteady. Self-reflection was needed to put it back in place.

What does it mean to you to receive the Superintendent’s Scholarship?

To me, the Superintendent's Scholarship means one thing, direction. Direction towards an unmarked path that decided to finally reveal itself.
