Elizabeth Plaskacz - World Languages Teacher, Elgin High School

After 18 years teaching world languages at Elgin High School, and now in her sixth decade of teaching, Elizabeth said she’s confident she made the right career choice! “I have gotten deep satisfaction from teaching my craft, and sharing my love of foreign languages,” she said. “I have great memories of taking students on trips to Germany and France, where they could take in the awe of new places and cultures. But I loved the very simple times, too: just being in the classroom with the students, and sharing a bit of myself with them.” Elizabeth, who also taught for three years at Streamwood High School, said she takes joy in reading old notes from former students, or running into them around town. In retirement she’ll spend as much time as possible visiting Europe, she said, and when she’s home she’ll be in her garden.
