Kudos to the Cast, Crew, and Staff at South Elgin High School on Their Opening Night Performance of “Clue!” from Jaimie Giraldo, District Fine Arts Coordinator
Kudos to everyone involved with “Clue!” Right at opening curtain, they discovered that the sound system (that had been working fine up until then) was now burnt-out somehow. Kurt Burkhardt, Auditorium Manager/Tech from Plant Operations; Jessica Smith, English Teacher at South Elgin High School; Andrew Brhel, U-46 District-Wide Substitute Teacher, and the whole production team worked quickly to come up with a backup plan, and the show proceeded without a hitch. The students performed without microphones, and projected well - and they set up small speakers on the stage to accommodate the sound cues. There is nothing more stressful than a last-minute emergency like this, and this team managed it with grace. As they say on Broadway, “The show must go on.” Great job!

She was student-safety focused as her first priority. Our clinic was smooth and flawless due to her amazing organization and support. Thank you, Nurse Kelly - we LOVE you at Horizon!

Laurie, Megan, and Debora work so hard and collaboratively to support students and staff and keep everyone safe. On any given day, it's always busy in the office with just our normal school activity. But with COVID-19 cases, contact tracing, parent communication, weekly SHIELD-testing, and our recent vaccine clinic, it's been extra hectic as we try to provide a high level of service to our school community. Laurie, Megan, and Debbie have always maintained their poise and positive outlook, and have been so helpful and supportive to all students, staff, and parents. Thanks for everything you do for us and for our school community every day!
