Call to Committee - Reviewing and Revising the U-46 Equity Plan

School District U-46 is seeking teachers, administrators, community members, and students who are interested in joining a committee to review and revise the U-46 Equity Plan.

Committee Purpose:

The Equity Committee will review and update benchmarks within the U-46 Equity Plan. Additionally, the Equity Committee will work to: 1) expose systemic barriers that block the spread of cultural proficiency; 2) identify institutional patterns that reinforce predictability in opportunity, access, and support; 3) create the shape, format, and content framework of future professional development opportunities; and 4) correct instructional and racist practices that marginalize certain student populations.

Expected Committee Outcomes:

The Equity Committee will:

  • Consistently and actively participate in identified equity professional development sessions
  • Review a common set of research documents and data points
  • Anchor Text TBD
  • Review and monitor implementation benchmarks of the U-46 Equity Plan to include instructional aspects of U-46, community needs, and professional development
  • Propose professional development and support opportunities as a result of Equity Plan

Committee Configuration:

Committee members will represent students, faculty and staff, administrators, and community members, from across the district.   Committee members should demonstrate a desire to engage positively and proactively in the work of equity and social justice. Committee members with previous participation in equity training sessions are preferred and highly encouraged to apply.  This committee will not exceed 50 participants with balanced representation from across the District’s 11 communities and 90 square miles and preferred experience in the following groups:  

  • Students
  • English Language/Dual Language
  • Gifted and Talented
  • AVID
  • Early Learners
  • Special Education
  • Career Technical Education (CTE)
  • Primary Elementary
  • Intermediate Elementary
  • Middle School
  • High School
  • Community
  • Districtwide Staff
  • Administration

Length of Committee Term:

The committee will meet on the dates listed in the table below in order to complete the work.

Additional meetings may be needed pending committee approval.
