School District U-46 is preparing for the 2022-23 school year with new leaders stepping into top administrator roles. Some of these professionals have recently joined the District, or have been promoted from within U-46 to serve a new role. U-46 District and school administrators oversee schools, District-wide programs and services, collaborate with staff and teachers, and guide our families to help students achieve academic success.

 

“The start of a new school year is an exciting time and also a wonderful time to welcome the fresh perspectives brought by new administrators taking on key roles in the District, as well as longtime U-46 employees assuming new challenges,” said U-46 Superintendent Dr. Tony Sanders. “I’m glad to have them as part of our team working together to serve our more than 35,000 students and their families.” 

The following educators have been named to positions that were left vacant due to retirements, resignations, or other opportunities within the District.

 

Cabinet Positions

 

Dr. Ann Williams -  Deputy Superintendent for Operations/Chief School Business Official

 

Dr. Ann Williams joined U-46 in February 2022 as the Deputy Superintendent for Operations/Chief School Business Official. She had previously served as the Chief Financial Officer/Chief School Business Official for East Aurora School District 131, overseeing finance and operations for the district.  

 

Prior to joining East Aurora in 2019, Dr. Williams served as the Assistant Superintendent of Business/Treasurer for the Crete-Monee Community Unit School District 201U. She has 18 years of experience in school business as well as the private sector, including as a Manager of Financial Analysis for CNA Financial.  

 

Dr. Williams holds her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Northern Illinois University, her Master of Business Administration from DePaul University, and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Roosevelt University. 

 

Mr. Mark Moore - Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources 

 

Mr. Mark Moore became U-46’s Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources at the start of 2022-23 school year, bringing 16 years of experience as an educational leader and 22 years of experience in the education profession. 

 

Previously Mr. Moore served as the Assistant Superintendent for Leadership and Administrative Services at St. Charles Community Unit School District 303, supervising the district’s two middle schools and two high schools. Additionally, starting in 2013 he led D303’s human resources department.

 

Mr. Moore began his career in education in 2000 as a math teacher at St. Charles North High School. He earned his bachelor of science degree in mathematics, a master’s degree in educational organization and leadership, and a certificate of advanced study in educational administration and leadership, all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 

 

Elementary School Principals

 

Ms. Paula Ek - Principal at Huff Elementary School 

 

Ms. Paula Ek, who began her teaching career in U-46, arrives at Huff with more than 20 years of experience in education. 

 

Since 2014, Ms. Ek had worked at East Aurora School District 131, most recently as Executive Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning, and prior to that in principal and assistant principal roles. Before joining East Aurora, Ms. Ek served as a PreK through 5th grade Social Studies Coordinator in Valley View School District 365U. 

 

Ms. Ek earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from University of St. Francis. 

 

Ms. Cheryl Frederickson - Principal at Century Oaks Elementary School

Ms. Cheryl Frederickson brings with her more than 20 years of educational leadership in private and public schools. Since 2017, Ms. Frederickson had served as the Program Director/Principal for special education services at the Menta Academy Hillside, a therapeutic school that helps at-risk youth reach their academic goals and make positive connections to their communities. 

From 2012 to 2017, Ms. Frederickson was the Director of K-12 Social Emotional Learning at Community Unit School District 300 in Algonquin. 

Ms. Frederickson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Northwestern University and a Master’s degree in educational leadership from Aurora University. 

Mr. Peter La Chance - Interim Principal of Spring Trail Elementary School 

 

Mr. Peter La Chance’s educational career includes 16 years as a principal at the elementary and middle school level. 

 

Mr. La Chance served as the Interim Assistant Principal of U-46’s Washington Elementary School last spring. Previous to that, he served for three years as the Principal of Roy DeShane School, four years as the Principal of Carol Stream Elementary School, and nine years as the Principal of Jay Stream Middle School, all in Community Consolidated School District 93 in Carol Stream. 

 

Mr. La Chance earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a Master’s degree in educational leadership from North Central College.

 

Ms. Kelly Marotz - Principal at Coleman Elementary School

 

Ms. Kelly Marotz, who has 24 years of experience in the educational field, has served for the last nine as an assistant principal and principal.

 

Most recently, she served as the Principal of Sandridge School District 172, a PreK through 8th grade school based in the Chicago suburb of Chicago Heights. From 2013 through 2019, she served as an Assistant Principal in East Aurora School District 131, where she began her teaching career as an 8th grade reading and language arts teacher.

 

Ms. Marotz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Illinois State University and a Master’s degree in educational administration from Concordia University. 

 

Ms. Deanna Micaletti - Principal at Ronald D. O’Neal Elementary School

 

Ms. Deanna Micaletti is a veteran special education teacher who spent the last three years as the Assistant Principal at Laurel Hill Elementary School in U-46. 

 

Ms. Micaletti joined U-46 in 2011 as a Cross Categorical Resource Teacher at Harriet Gifford Elementary School. 

 

Ms. Micaletti earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Elmhurst College and a Master’s degree in education administration from Concordia University Chicago.

 

Mr. Rajan Sharma -  Principal of Glenbrook Elementary School 

Mr. Rajan Sharma brings 16 years of experience in the educational field, including the last two years as the Assistant Principal at Horizon Elementary School in School District U-46. 

 

Mr. Sharma’s educational career began as a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide in River Grove. Mr. Sharma then served in that same district as a head classroom teacher for all grades 1st through 5th. Later on, he was a middle school language arts teacher and basketball coach in Pilsen for seven years. Before joining U-46, Mr. Sharma served for three years as the Dean of School Culture at a middle school in Rockford.

 

Mr. Sharma earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Northern Illinois University, a Master’s degree in education from Roosevelt University, and a Master’s degree in educational leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. 

Middle School Principals

 

Ms. Angela Ginnan - Principal at Eastview Middle School

 

Ms. Angela Ginnan, who began her career in education as a school social worker, brings a decade of leadership experience to Eastview. 

 

Prior to joining U-46, Ms. Ginnan served as the Assistant Principal of Student Services at Naperville Central High School. From 2013 to 2019, she worked at Wheeling High School, serving as the Associate Principal of Operations & Student Services and the Division Head of Special Education. 

 

Ms. Ginnan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from The Ohio State University, a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Master’s degree in education, leadership and administration from Benedictine University. 

 

Ms. Kimberly Rudden - Principal of Canton Middle School 

 

Ms. Rudden has been an educator in U-46 for 21 years, including the last three school years as an Associate Principal at Streamwood High School in U-46. She is a Streamwood High graduate and attended Canton Middle School as a young student. 

 

Ms. Rudden previously served at Bartlett High School as the head of the STEM Academy, Career and Technical Education, and school counselors, and at South Elgin High School as a dean of students. She started her career in the classroom in 2000, teaching 8th grade history and 7th grade social studies at Larsen Middle School. 

 

Ms. Rudden earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Illinois State University and a Master’s degree in leadership from Aurora University.
