    August 7th, 2020 - A Letter from Dr. Pollack regarding preparations for the 2020-2021 School Year

    Dr. Joel Pollack joined Creekside Elementary with more than 20 years of experience as a professional educator.  Following 10 years as a teacher in various settings, Mr. Pollack has spent the past 10 years as a principal, principal supervisor, and system-level leader in the Chicago area.  Immediately prior to assuming the role of Principal at Creekside, he served as an Associate Provost at the University of Chicago, overseeing pre-K-12 education initiatives. Mr. Pollack has also served as Chief Education Officer for Acero Schools in Chicago, Deputy Superintendent of Instruction for North Chicago Community Unit School District 187, and Principal and Director in the Chicago Public Schools with the Academy for Urban School Leadership.

    Dr. Pollack earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy at Harvard University. He earned a Master of Education degree in education and social policy from Northwestern University, a second Master of Education degree in administration and supervision from National Louis University, and a superintendent’s endorsement from Loyola University in Chicago. Additionally, he earned an advanced diploma in oral and written Spanish from Instituto Cervantes in Chicago.

    Dr. Pollack is the proud husband of Beatriz Diaz-Pollack (a U-46 grad) and has been an Elgin resident since 2013.  He is also the proud parent of two daughters, Magdalena and Guadalupe, who are both U-46 students. Outside of work, his favorite pastimes include reading, running, music, and exploring the outdoors
