Ms. Keeysha James

I am excited to join Illinois Park’s family as an Assistant Principal. I have a love for children and a desire for education. This is my 24th year in education, during which I taught grades first through fifth grade. Additionally, I have worked as a Literacy Teacher, a Title I Instructional Interventionist, a Reading Coach, and a Teacher Specialist for Curriculum and Instruction.

I graduated from Zion-Benton High School, Zion IL. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in PreK-6 Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. In addition, I have earned a Master’s Degree in PreK-12 Administration/Supervision from Norfolk State University.

My Philosophy of Education is, I believe all children have the capacity and ability to learn.  As a leader and an educator, I want to make learning something students look forward to every day.  Furthermore, I believe in creating a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment that allows students to think, learn and grow.

I recognize that there is no one unique method for every child to learn. It often takes a combination of approaches to help students succeed. Therefore, it takes the school, the community, the teachers and parents working together to help educate each student. I strive to build enthusiasm for lifelong learners in teachers and students.

Overall, I hold closely the philosophy that our school’s community is a "family" dedicating our focus on the "whole child", embracing our diversity and remaining forward thinking in providing an enriched instructional program for teaching and learning.
