Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Where do I go to be fingerprinted?
School District U-46 - Educational Service Center
355 E. Chicago St.
Elgin, IL 60120
(click here to open in Google Maps) -
Is there a way to expedite the background check process?
NO. The HR department will collect the fingerprint images and send them to both the FBI and ISP agencies. The window of time is determined by when the candidate is fingerprinted and when the agencies can provide complete background check results.
-
Can I just walk-in to HR to be fingerprinted?
NO. Fingerprint/background checks are completed by appointment only. -
How long does it take to receive the results after completing the fingerprint/background check?
It may take 2 to 14 business days after the volunteer's fingerprint appointment to receive a response from the FBI and State Police. But it may take up to 45+ business days. This is purely dependent on how fast the FBI and State Police get back to us.
So, the sooner you come in, the better chance you have of having the results come in time to begin working/volunteering.
