Ms. Sheri Fato

Ms. Sheri Fato has been selected to take on the role of Principal of Central School Programs, bringing with her 20 years of experience in special education, including the past 10 years in School District U-46. During her educational career, she’s been an action-oriented advocate for all the students with whom she has worked, teaming with other professionals, parents, and guardians to find ways to maximize student success.

She has served as the interim principal of Central School Programs for the last few months, and since the fall of 2021, Ms. Fato has been a special education teacher at Central School Programs. From 2012 to 2019, she served as the divisional head of Specialized Student Services at Streamwood High School. There, she supervised and evaluated more than 50 staff members, including teachers, social workers, nurses, speech therapists, psychologists, and paraprofessionals. She facilitated and reviewed IEP compliance data for about 250 students. She was a strong and focused leader who managed the budget, transportation, compliance, and all curriculum for the special education department at Streamwood High School.

Before joining School District U-46, Ms. Fato was the department chair for special education at Leyden High School District 212 from 2009 to 2012 and, starting in 2003, a special education teacher, inclusion facilitator, and department facilitator at Lake Park High School in Roselle. She received her bachelor's degree in special education from Northeastern Illinois University and her master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University Chicago.
