Mrs. Lauren McDonald
My name is Lauren McDonald, and I have the great honor of being named the new principal of Clinton Elementary School. I could not be more excited to be joining the Cougar community, as my commitment to School District U-46 is deep; I have attended Eastview and Centennial Elementary Schools, Canton Middle School, and Elgin High School. I began teaching immediately after I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2003, and I bring to the table nineteen years of educational experience in various grade levels and demographics. I have primarily focused my last fifteen years on teaching reading intervention, working as a Reading Specialist and Literacy Coach. My most recent position has been at Tefft Middle School as a MTSS Lead. Various career roles have pushed me to be better for my school communities, and as a result I have obtained a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, a Masters of Education in Reading and Literacy with K-12 Reading Specialist Certification, and a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership with an Administrative Endorsement.
Personally, I am the wife of a tradesman and a mother of three kids: a twelve year old son, a nine year old daughter, and a seven year old son. Much (all) of my free time is spent on the sidelines at their sports events. I also have two rescue dogs that I adore. I am an avid country music fan, and I absolutely love to travel, craft on my Cricut, and read historical fiction whenever possible. I cannot wait to meet all of the Clinton community and partner with you as we work to support the students in their learning journeys. I’m looking forward to an amazing 24-25 school year.
