Peanuts and nuts are among the most common allergy causing foods. Exposure to peanut and peanut products can be life threatening. By following simple guidelines, the exposure for affected students can be minimized.
    • Students should not share food in the lunchroom. Each student should eat his or her own lunch whether it was purchased at school or brought from home.
    • Utilize frequent and effective hand washing practices. This will not only help decrease the transmission of peanut allergens, but also the transmission of germs.
    • Adhere to requests for peanut-free treats for parties and celebrations in the classroom. If you are in doubt, ask your School Nurse or classroom teacher.
