Mrs. Sylvester

Hello Liberty Families,

I am so happy to be apart of the Liberty Community!  Some things you might not know about me are that I have been in education since 2001.   I have taught many different areas in education ranging from a 4th grade teacher all the way to a self-contained special education setting.  Education is my passion!  I want all the students at Liberty to love coming to school each and every day.  As a leader, I strive to create a positive environment for everyone that walks in the building.

Liberty is such a fun place, sometimes at our family events, my own children will want to attend as well.  My husband, Sam works in the Bartlett Community as well, he is a Bartlett Firefighter/Paramedic.  So sometimes they will stop by with the fire truck and ambulance to say hello to the students.  We are always looking for great ways to contribute to the community of Bartlett.

I have a feeling this is going to be a great year!   Make sure to check out our PTO Facebook page and our Google Site to keep updated on information as well!

    Dear Liberty Elementary School Families,

We hope you are having a great summer. We are pleased to announce that a face familiar to many of you, Ms. Stephanie M. Sylvester, has been selected to take on the role of Principal at Liberty Elementary School in Bartlett.

Ms. Sylvester has worked in School District U-46 for 12 years. Since 2017 she has held the Assistant Principal role at Liberty.  In this role as an instructional leader she worked collaboratively with staff to support and engage student learning. Additionally, she supported ESL instruction, PBIS integration and supports, organized school wide events and coordinated family and community engagement in collaboration with the PTO, District, and community.

From 2013 to 2017, Ms. Sylvester served as a peer consultant teacher in the District. In that role, she worked to improve the practice of professionals within the District using the Teacher Appraisal Plan (TAP) and Framework as a guide. She guided adult learners to be reflective, engage in collaborative conversations, professionally advocate for themselves, and understand the values and beliefs of the TAP.

Between 2008 to 2013, Ms. Sylvester was a K-6 Special Education Resource Teacher at Lowrie Elementary School in Elgin, an Extraordinary Needs 7th and 8th grade teacher at Canton Middle School in Streamwood, and a Cross-Cat Special Education 7th and 8th grade teacher at Kenyon Woods Middle School in South Elgin.

Prior to joining School District U-46, Ms. Sylvester worked between 2003 and 2008 as a teacher in Brookwood Middle School District 167, Benjamin School District 25, and Cicero School District 99.

Ms. Sylvester earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and a Master of Arts degree in administration at Bradley University in Peoria. She earned a second Master of Arts degree in executive leadership and organizational change from Roosevelt University. She also holds a Learning Behavior Specialist and English as a Second Language Endorsement.

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Sylvester to her new role as Principal of Liberty Elementary School.

    Sincerely,

    Steve Burger
