Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education Masters in Teaching and Leadership English Second Language (ESL) endorsement

Mrs. Renee Zabel

I a thrilled to be working with your chilld this school year. It is my goal to make school a place where your child feels safe to learn and provide an environment where each child feels equally valued.

It is important to me to build a growth mindset in my classroom where children embrace challenges, give their best effort and see the benefit of not giving up. I want the children to learn from feedback and believe their intelligence can be affected by their hard work. It is important that the children feel inspired by others successes and not threatened. To praise the process, we together can say things like "Wow, you must have worked so hard on this!" rather than "you are so smart". I want the children to know that when they fail, they learn!

I have been teaching second grade for twenty years and I taught first grade before that. My husband and I have two adult children that went to school in U-46. I have been an active member of U-46 for 25 years! My education consists of masters degree in Teaching and Leadership as well an ESL endorsement to help me meet the diverse needs of my students. I am currently serving on a district level committee in which we are tasked to write curriculum that will be used in the 2019-20 school year. I am enjoying the challenge. I am a life long learner and partake in many professional develpment conferences and serve on our school SIP committee and district healthcare committee.

It is important that we have a strong home/school connection, therefore I want you to feel free to contact me at any time!
