What is PBIS?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture that is needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional and academic success.
As a Response to Intervention model, PBIS applies a three-tiered system of support and a problem-solving process to enhance the capacity of schools to effectively educate all students.
For more information about PBIS, go to the Illinois PBIS Network web site or the district's PBIS page.
PBIS at Hanover Countryside
The PBIS team at Hanover Countrside has developed the behavior matrix based on the "3 C's": Care for Self, Care for Others and Care for School and how these apply in various environments in and around the school. This matrix is taught by every teacher and displayed in all classrooms.

Credits
A Hanover Credit is issued to students who are "caught" demonstrating a positive behavior shown in the behavior matrix. The student can cash in these credits for prizes or privileges at PBIS events throughout the year.
Super Credits are issued when an entire class demonstrates a behavior from the matrix.
