Dr. Kurt Johansen - Principal

For over two decades, I have had the privilege of working in public education while serving as a special education teacher, head football coach, dean of students, assistant principal, and now the proud principal at South Elgin High School.  Throughout these experiences, my greatest joy has always come from watching students discover their passion and then work towards achieving their goals.  My drive as an educator is grounded in the strong belief that, together, there is nothing we cannot accomplish.  The foundation of this belief is built upon relationships, trust, ongoing communication, and meaningful and deliberate collaboration.  It is truly my honor to serve the students, staff, parents and community of South Elgin High School and I look forward to our continued success.

Mr. Tony Venetico - Associate Principal

I am excited to begin my third year at South Elgin High School supporting our staff and students.  For over 15 years, I have been a proud resident of South Elgin myself and love being able to support students in the community that I live.  I am looking forward to a fantastic 2023-24 school year and am inspired seeing the connections that occur in this building every single day between our staff and our students.  Prior to this role, I taught high school Math, was a middle school assistant principal, middle school principal, and the former AP of STEM here at SEHS.  Outside of school, I am a professional magician performing at a variety of private and corporate events.  In addition, I am a volunteer children's hospital bedside magician with Open Heart Magic going room to room performing and teaching magic to kids in their hospital beds at Lutheran General in Park Ridge.  GO STORM!
