Here at Highland, we prepare every student for success in middle school and beyond.
Every day, we tell our more than 500 students that we are glad they are here. Starting each day with a positive and supportive greeting is one way to provide for a positive daily environment that supports learning.
We put substantial focus here on The Highland High-5, a Positive Behavioral and Interventions and Support program (PBIS). The PBIS program at Highland is one of only Five Exemplar Programs in Illinois and Highland has been nationally recognized for our work supporting students to maintain positive and supportive school and home behavior. You can find more information about the Highland High-5 here.
Highland Elementary is a Dual Language School, offering instruction in both English and Spanish for native speakers of both languages. Learn more about our program here and find information about the district's English Language Learners Department here.
During the school day, we are engaging students in a safe, orderly and positive environment, focused on achieving the learning required by the Illinois Common Core Learning Standards. Our efforts are aligned to these rigorous standards so that your child can achieve as expected and meet the college and workplace readiness standards.
