Kindergarten Registration is Now Open!
If your child will be 5 years old by September 1st, 2026, don't delay, register today.
Registering now means we can retain teachers, start planning classrooms, keep an eye on class sizes, and prepare for transportation. Don't worry, you will be registering all of your students on the same registration, so please do not delay, and register today!

You may contact your school to set up an appointment if you need assistance with registering or providing the required documentation. Families who are unsure which elementary school serves their home should use the school locator tool, which is also available on the district’s attendance boundaries page. A profile of each school, as well as links to their individual websites, can be found on the Our Schools page.
Each year families are required to submit an annual student registration. Our registration is done online, with assistance available at each of your children's schools or the district's Welcome Center in Elgin. If you currently have students attending U-46, you can register them all of your children on the same application using your Campus Parent account. Families new to the district will register with our New Family kiosk, please see our detailed instructions below. Please be first day ready and make sure your child is registered today.
Since the Instructional Material Fees are currently awaiting approval form our Board of Education, those fees will not be applied at this time. Once approved, fees will be applied to all enrolled students.
You can now use smartphones to complete your online registration!
Please choose from the tabs below for more detailed instructions for Current Families (students currently attending School District U-46), or New Families, for those new to our district.

Release Agreement - Student Image use and Release
School District U-46 is proud to highlight the activities and accomplishments of our district, schools, and students by sharing the information with the public. Sharing school news helps the community stay informed with the latest happenings at our schools and is a tribute to the students, personnel, schools, the district, and the community. Shared information may include: work products, classroom programs, school events, presentations, performances, promotion/graduation videos, and athletic/extracurricular events and accomplishments.
To achieve this important district objective, authorized School District U-46 personnel or other authorized representatives occasionally photograph or record students and/or their work for use in publications or on digital media platforms (website/social media) or for release to outside entities (i.e., news media, etc.). There is no fee or cost related to these student images.
Please Note:
- Group/Audience Images: Removal of individual student images from group and audience photographs/video images is not practical and will not occur. School District U-46 retains the right to use student group images that do not name individual students, and no consent or notice is needed or will be given before the district or school uses such.
- Public Events and Activities: School District U-46 has no control over photos and video taken by non-district entities during events/activities that are open to the public and where cameras are permitted (i.e., news media, etc.).
- Exclusions: This School District U-46 Student Image Use and Release form is not related to the annual offer to purchase student grade-level individual portraits, class photos, or other merchandise.
Consent Procedure: Parents, guardians, and eligible students (emancipated or 18+) may consent to the use and/or release of student images by selecting from the options below before the beginning of each school year.
_ I, as the parent/guardian/eligible student (18+), consent to authorized School District U-46 personnel or other authorized representatives’ use of student images and/or work in publications or on digital media platforms (website/social media) or release to outside entities (i.e., news media, etc.).
Release Agreement - Directory Release
"Directory Information" includes the following: the student's name and mailing address; the parents' names, mailing addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses; and the student’s: birth date; grade level; academic awards and honors; participation in school-sponsored activities; organizations and athletics; major field of study; period of attendance in school; and photographs, videos, or digital images used for informational or news related purposes (by the school) of a student participating in school or school-sponsored activities, organizations, and athletics that have appeared in school publications such as yearbooks, newspapers, or sporting or fine arts programs.
Pursuant to law School District U-46 will release the above-referenced "Directory Information" to the general public (including news media) upon request, unless the parent/guardian/eligible student (defined by law as emancipated or 18+) requests that it not be disclosed without their prior written consent. Pursuant to law, School District U-46 will release limited Directory Information (student’s name, address, and phone number) to military recruiters or post-secondary educational institutions upon request, unless the parent/guardian/eligible student requests that the information not be disclosed without their prior written consent.
DIRECTORY INFORMATION PUBLICATION AND RELEASE
What happens when you Opt-Out?
By opting out below, your student's directory information will not be included within the school student listings used for activity or athletic programs and school newsletters; or released to local newspaper media and graduation merchandise vendors for class rings, caps and gowns, and graduation announcements. Parents/guardians will need to contact the companies directly to obtain those services. Specific items may not be selected to be included or withheld.
What is NOT included within an Opt-Out?
Yearbooks: Please note that your request for your student to be excluded from Directory Information DOES NOT result in the exclusion of the student's name, portrait, works or other photographs from publication in yearbooks. A parent/guardian/eligible student who does NOT want their student's name, portrait, works or other photographs to appear in yearbooks should notify the school office on an annual basis in writing before the beginning of the school year.
Photos/Video During Events Open to the Public: Please note that, during events open to the public at which cameras are permitted, School District U-46 personnel and event guests (including news media) may take and publish photographs/videos. School District U-46 is not responsible for event guests (including news media) that may independently publish an image of a named/unnamed student and their works that are presented during events/activities open to the public.
Parent/guardian/eligible student must select one option on an annual basis during registration before the beginning of each school year:
_ I, as the parent/guardian/eligible student, hereby permit the disclosure of Directory Information as outlined here without my prior written consent.
I, as the parent/guardian/eligible student, hereby do not permit the disclosure of Directory Information as outlined here without my prior written consent.
Student Acceptable Use of Technology*
The Board of Education recognizes that technology is a tool for instruction which should facilitate and enhance the curricular goals of the District. Internet access is one of the technology tools that can provide positive learning experiences for students.
Because of the unique nature of technology, the staff will provide guidance and instruction to students in the appropriate use of that resource. Those responsible for student technology access will monitor its use so that maximum instructional benefit will result. The District’s electronic network is part of the curriculum and is not a public forum for general use. Users should not expect that email or files stored on District servers will be private. The District reserves the right to log technology use, to monitor file server space utilization by users, and to examine users’ files and materials as needed, and at its discretion. Users must recognize that there is no assurance of confidentiality with respect to access to transmissions and files by persons outside, or from persons inside the District
IMPORTANT: 1:1 TECHNOLOGY UPDATE
All students in grades 1-12 in School District U-46 will be provided a district-issued Chromebook to be used throughout the school day, as well as at home during the evenings and weekends to support their learning. Students in PreK and Kindergarten will receive a district-issued iPad. These devices will allow improved implementation of the Board approved curriculum and curricular resources. Over the last five years, the District has invested in numerous curricular resources for core instruction as well as interventions that are technology-based. Moving to one-to-one in all grade levels will allow students greater access to curriculum resources, interventions and progress monitoring tools.
The school district will retain ownership of the devices, but will check them out to the students for the entire school year as a tool to support their learning. In order for this to be successful, students need to take responsibility for the device loaned to them - similar to checking out books from the library or being assigned textbooks. Each device will be marked with a district provided Asset Tag sticker and device ID sticker and will be checked out to the designated student using the District’s online inventory management system. Students may not tamper with or remove any device identification stickers or labels. In addition, students are strongly discouraged from decorating their district-issued technology in any way. Any damage resulting from physical modifications may result in a damage fee and possible loss of use.
We have found that if your daughter/son uses proper care, especially while transporting the device, the risk of damage is minimal. If a device is accidentally damaged, there will be no charge to the student for repair. If it is determined that the damage was not accidental, the student may be charged the full repair or replacement cost. In addition, if the device is lost, the student will be charged the full replacement cost similar to how the District handles lost textbooks currently. This provision will also be noted in the student handbook.
If damage to the device occurs while your student has the device off of school grounds, please notify the school and return the damaged device immediately the next day. In addition, in the case of suspected theft, please immediately contact local law enforcement to file a police report. Please share a copy of the police report with your school to allow the school district to assist the police in recovering the stolen device. If the device is verified as stolen and a police report is filed, the student will not be charged the replacement cost.
Students are responsible for good behavior on District and school computer networks just as they are in a classroom or a school hallway. General school rules for behavior and communications apply.
Permission to use the District and school’s technology, including Internet, email, and other collaborative online tools is dependent upon a student and his/her parent or guardian signing the Student Acceptable Use of Technology Agreement. Signing this form shows that the student understands and will follow the District and school’s technology/computer rules.
Please understand that any student email account is a form of communication, is transitory in nature and will not be construed as a Student record. The District also does not backup or archive the cloud-based application and data storage services that may be available to students, so any data that is permanently deleted from those services cannot be restored.
The Opportunities and Risks of Technology Use
With access to computers and people all over the world comes the potential availability of material that may not be considered to be of educational value in the context of the school setting, or that may be harmful or disruptive. Because information on networks is transitory and diverse, the District cannot completely predict or control what users may or may not locate. The Board of Education believes that the educational value of limited access to the information, interaction, and research capabilities that technology offers outweighs the possibility that users may obtain or encounter material that is not consistent with the educational goals of the District.
In accordance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act, the District installs and operates filtering software to limit users’ internet access to materials that are obscene, pornographic, harmful to children, or otherwise inappropriate, notwithstanding that such software may in certain cases block access to other materials as well. At the same time, the District cannot guarantee that filtering software will in all instances successfully block access to materials deemed harmful, indecent, offensive, pornographic, or otherwise inappropriate. The use of filtering software does not negate or otherwise affect the obligations of users to abide by the terms of this Policy and to refrain from accessing such inappropriate materials.
No technology is guaranteed to be error-free or totally dependable, nor is it safe when used irresponsibly. Among other matters, the District is not liable or responsible for:
- any information that may be lost, damaged, or unavailable due to technical or other difficulties;
- the accuracy or suitability of any information that is retrieved through technology;
- breaches of confidentiality;
- defamatory material; or
- the consequences that may come from failure to follow the District’s policy and procedures governing the use of technology.
Student Users of Technology Will:
- Use or access District technology only for educational purposes.
- Comply with copyright laws and software licensing agreements.
- Understand that email and network files are not private. Network administrators may review files and communications to maintain system integrity and monitor responsible student use.
- Respect the privacy rights of others.
- Be responsible at all times for the proper use of technology, including proper use of access privileges, complying with all required system security identification codes, and not sharing any codes or passwords.
- Maintain the integrity of technological resources from potentially damaging messages, physical abuse, or viruses.
- Abide by the policies and procedures of networks and systems linked by technology.
Student Users of Technology Will Not:
- Access, download, create, send or display offensive messages or pictures.
- Use harassing, offensive, obscene or defamatory language.
- Harass or attack others.
- Vandalize or damage computer equipment, systems, networks, hardware, software, data or programs.
- Spread computer viruses.
- Violate copyright laws or software licensing agreements.
- Use others' passwords or accounts.
- Misrepresent themselves or others.
- Trespass in others' folders, work, or files, or gain unauthorized access to resources or entities.
- Reveal their personal address or phone number, or those of other users.
- Use District technology for non-school purposes or personal financial gain.
- Use technology for any illegal purpose or activity.
Disciplinary Actions
Violations of this Policy, or any administrative regulations and guidelines governing the use of technology may result in disciplinary action which could include loss of network access, loss of technology use, suspension or expulsion, or other appropriate disciplinary action. Violations of local, state or federal law may subject students to prosecution by appropriate law enforcement authorities.
Additional Rules/Actions
The superintendent may establish regulations and guidelines and shall take appropriate action to implement this Policy.
Note to Parents: District staff may not request or require a student to provide a password or other related account information in order to gain access to the student's account or profile on a social networking website if the district has reasonable cause to believe that the student's account on a social networking website contains evidence that the student has violated a disciplinary rule or policy.

What if I registered in February
If you took advantage of Kindergarten registration in February, you do not need to register again.
However, if you are a current family and used the New Student Registration to register only your kindergarten student, then you will need to use the Existing Student Registration to register the rest of your children. Most likely the registration will also list your kindergarten student, it is okay to complete the registration with them on there.
Note: when in the Online Registration section of Campus Parent, you will see progress updates under New and Existing Student Registration. If your Existing Student Registration shows the progress as completed, you can review a PDF version of your submitted application. If you are missing a student, you can use the New Student Registration.

My child's other parent does not show on the application.
When you first enroll your student, we ask for both parents' names to be added to the application. If the other parent's name was not added, or marked as not living in the household, they will not be listed in the application in future applications since they are not a member of your primary household. This does not mean that they have been removed as a parent, or a guardian. Only household members appear in the parent and student section of our annual registration.
When completing an application for a current student, parents will not be able to add new parents to the application.
If the parent was left off by mistake, please contact your child's school to let them know the other parent needs to be added.
If they are noted as living separately, the other parent should create their own Infinite Campus Parent account. When they log in and go to the More tab, and then to Family Information, they will find themselves listed with the students. They can review their phone number, email and home address-if provided originally. They will also see themselves noted as a guardian. If changes need to be made to their information, they should contact the school. They should not worry if they are not listed on the current school year application, they already exist.
PLEASE NOTE: do not add stepparents as guardians unless they have been granted legal custody. They do not automatically have guardianship rights of stepchildren unless we have court documentation. Stepparents can be listed in the same household, but not as a guardian. They can be a priority emergency contact.

You may fill an Affidavit of birth for the district to use until your official copy arrives. The affidavit is good for 30 days.

For more information about Project Access and what qualifies a child for
McKinney-Vento services, please view the following documents in English or Spanish.
When a student's change of residence is due to the military service obligation of the student's legal custodian, the student's residence is deemed to be unchanged for the duration of the custodian's military service obligation if the student's custodian made a written request. The District, however, is not responsible for the student's transportation to or from school.
If, at the time of enrollment, a dependent child of military personnel is housed in temporary housing located outside of the District, but will be living within the District within six months after the time of initial enrollment, the child is allowed to enroll, subject to the requirements of State law, and must not be charged tuition. Click to see full Board Policy 7:60 Residence.
Please note: Certain proofs of residency require annual updates, or when a document expires. If requested, the information will need to be turned into your child’s school before registration is considered complete. ALL Affidavits of Residency and month to month leases must be updated annually.
The district reserves the right to investigate any claim of residency or request current documents and forms in order to determine residency.
If you need assistance with documents or filling out applications, please use this link to find your school’s phone number and website. Office staff will be happy to set up an appointment.

Student Insurance
Student Voluntary Accident Insurance Program
Accidents happen while at school, on the school bus or while participating in a scholastic athletic event. Hopefully, you won't ever have to experience this while your student is at school. But, with sports and all the commotion a typical student experiences, there is a probability this could happen. Because of this potential, U-46 offers parents and guardians the ability to purchase an optional student accident insurance plan that is underwritten by Guarantee Trust Life Insurance Company and administered by 1st Agency.
The purpose of this insurance is to provide assistance at a minimum cost (paid by the parent or guardian) to meet some of the expenses of accidental injury.
Student Voluntary Accident Insurance Program Information

The school cannot refuse to admit or enroll a student because of failure to present his/her student permanent or temporary records from a school attended previously.
