Mrs. Claudia Martinez-Carter
My name is Claudia Martinez- Carter and returning to Channing Memorial years later as an Assistant Principal is something I had never imagined as a kindergartner in 1984! I am excited to begin this journey with Principal Lunak, the Channing Memorial staff, students, and community.
Graduating from University of Missouri- St. Louis with a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Sciences, I continued to further my education over the years. I have endorsements in ELL, Bilingual- Spanish, and LBS1 and in 2019 earned my Master’s in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. With 17 years of K-12 education experience, my most recent employment was at Larkin High School. As a teacher, I have served on several committees such as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) and Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Tier 2. Recently, I served on the School Improvement Planning Team (SIP), the district Post Secondary Committee and as the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Co-coordinator. I also have experience in elementary education as an English Language Learner Resource teacher and Parent Outreach Coordinator while I lived in St. Louis, MO..
I am honored to have the opportunity to work alongside teachers and staff to empower and move all students forward in their educational journey. When I have time to myself I like to binge watch a show, enjoy a kickboxing class or read a book I can’t put down.
