      In addition to group courses, many companies offer private tutoring for those who prefer one-on-one instruction. This is the priciest option. Choose carefully and check credentials.

    Online Study

    • Peterson’s StudentEdhttp://www.petersons.com/signup/?page=1ge.  There are multiple practice tests for all subject areas for all grade levels for both the ACT and the SAT. Visit http://www.petersons.com/signup/?page=1 and set up an account to get started!
    • ACT COMPANY. (www.actstudent.org)
      Here you will find practice test questions and suggestions for studying for the exam. If the student wants to take the ACT more than once, this is where you register. This is also the website students use to request that their test scores be sent to prospective colleges.
    • ACT Online Prep. (www.actonlineprep.com)
      This is an online prep created by the makers of the test. There are two practice tests and one diagnostic test which provide students with a study path.  An individual license fee applies per year.
    • Online ACT courses.
      These are for students who have convenient computer access and are serious about dedicating time to prepare. Some options include: Illinois Virtual High School (a six-week course, www.ilvirtual.org), Princeton Review (www.princetonreview.com) and Kaplan (www.kaptest.com).  

    Other Independent, Self-Paced Study

    • Test Guides.
      You can find a number of study guides with practice tests at your local bookstore or online book sellers such as amazon.com. Some titles include: Kaplan’s ACT - also available at (www.kaptest.com) and The Real ACT Prep Guide (also available at www.petersons.com).
    • Software.
      Your book seller also carries software programs with practice tests, such as those published by Kaplan.
