Classroom Philosophy: As an art educator, I strive to create an environment where students feel safe, welcome, and are able to trust and respect me as their teacher and mentor. Much of my inspiration for becoming an Art Educator comes from the experience I had as an art student in high school. The art room was my "home" in my high school experience and I wish to give all students a "home" to be comfortable in within their school day. I wish to cultivate in my students' critical thinking and problem solving skills, the learning of the entire artistic process from planning to execution to reflection and revision, and to bring them to challenge and analyze their ideas and creations.

It is my responsibility as their art teacher to not only teach the skills of using multiple media but to form new ideas and explore concepts that range from cultural, societal, to interpersonal relationships, and everything in between, even the silliest of ideas can hold meaning to a person. It's allowing them and engaging with them in their thought process where I find connections with my students that lead to an environment and rapport of respect and trust.
