Childhood Education

  • The Childhood Education pathway offers students the chance to focus on child growth and care from conception through childhood, acquire techniques and skills necessary to promote healthy physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. Students can then go on to study developmental characteristics, learning styles, with health and safety considerations.  They will further develop teaching skills in our on-site, revamped Preschool Program. All of our Childhood Education courses align with Larkin's mission and prepare our students for careers working with children (i.e. teachers, social workers, counselors, pediatricians, nurses, psychologists, etc.).  The capstone course for this career pathway is Education Internship, where students will take their skills learned in previous courses and apply these skills as classroom assistants in a U-46 elementary or middle school on a daily basis. Note: Education Internship is designed for students with career interests related to teaching and education. (Transportation is the responsibility of the student.)
