Every student must successfully complete three years (6 semesters) of high school mathematics.
A variety of mathematics courses is offered. These courses are designed to meet the needs of the individual student. Careful selection of the courses is important to the student.
The mathematics staff strongly recommends that students planning no additional formal education after graduation from high school consider completing at least Algebra 1-2 and Geometry 1-2.
Students planning to enter a vocational/technical program after graduation are encouraged to complete the math sequence through Algebra 3-4. These students should contact the desired community college/technical school to learn the mathematics requirements.
Those students planning to enter 4-year college programs should complete the math sequence through Pre-Calculus. Students should contact the college(s) of their choice to learn the mathematics requirements.
Members of the mathematics teaching staff and the school counselors are available to help students plan their mathematics course selections.
Students may move from one strand to another when ability demonstrates the need and a recommendation is made by the Math/Science Divisional.
Students receiving A, B, or C grades are expected to move to the next step in the sequence.
